Dominic Chappell rents a £1.5mm Grade II manor house in Blandford Forum, Dorset, with wife Rebecca, and their children. The estate is part-owned by the family of Giles Carlyle-Clarke, jailed in 2007 for smuggling cannabis.
Chappell paid himself £540,000-a-year as boss of British Home Stores after his company Retail Acquisitions gave Philip Green £1 for the chain last year.
What other explanation other than attempted fraud would explain why this twice-bankrupt, BHS owner moved £1.5m from the retailer to an unknown corporate entity last week, prior to calling in administrators?
Surely, something is rotten in the state of Denmark, while this level of corporate misgovernance is allowed to continue, seemingly unchecked.
